The real estate agency IMMOBILIARE TRINACRIA srl, active throughout Italy in the construction and sale of commercial and logistics properties, chose Sicep for the construction of a 10,000 square metre prefabricated building to be used as an Amazon sorting centre. Built in a few months, the new Amazon centre is the second built by Sicep after that in Catania.

In order to obtain the satisfaction of the technical and quality standards required by the project, including achieving the energy performance of the building in accordance with Legislative Decree 311/06, the Ondal 70 system and an adequate perimeter facade system were chosen as the construction system. In fact, in addition to the characteristics of structural efficiency, high fire resistance and aesthetic quality of the structure, in order to achieve the set objectives it was necessary to prepare insulated precast perimeter panels, 30 cm thick, which guarantee a transmittance value (U) of less than 0.43 W/sqm°K (UNI EN ISO 6846/2018). In addition, the chosen system made it possible to perfectly integrate a major system of internal ducts forming part of the air conditioning system into the precast concrete structure, meaning no further internal volume was taken up.
